About Me

I am a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in Journalism and English. I am also a certified teacher with endorsements in Art and English. I have taught middle and high school art, middle and high school English, middle and high school history and elementary art. In addition to my subject endorsements, I have been trained by Facing History and Ourselves (with more than 70 hours of professional development) to teach their tolerance classes, I am also the recipient of their Margot Stern Strom Teaching Award and a semi finalist for the Irena Sendler Award. I have written five novels.

We all need a bit of inspiration at times and Lynn Murphy has certainly delivered in her novel The Time of My Life. Using first-person perspective, the story evolves through the eyes of four characters. Ms Murphy's easy style deftly weaves a tale of wounded people coming together to help one another. Although the story seems to revolve around a former Olympic hopeful, the reader quickly sees that he, and all of those around him, have much to learn from the others. This is a story of characters from diverse backgrounds growing and developing through increasing understanding and support. The author's gentle hand teaches lessons while wrapping the reader in the warm cocoon of a well-developed talecouraged, humbled, and finally brought to tears by this wonderful story.
